AI for Solicitors
Much of the AI marketing aimed at lawyers is written for global firms with innovation teams. This page is for practising solicitors who want to know what AI can do in a working practice today, what it cannot, and how to use it while meeting your confidentiality duties and your obligations to the SRA. We build custom AI tools for solicitors' firms, mainly independent firms with roughly 20 to 100 lawyers, and we publish free tools you can try in your browser.
What AI can do for a solicitor's working day
- First drafts from your own precedents
- One of the more dependable uses of AI in practice is drafting from your firm's own templates and past work, with a link back to each source. Your style, your standard positions, your clauses: AI assembles the first draft, and you apply the judgement.
- Daily case law awareness
- Our free CasePulse tool holds more than 56,000 UK judgments since 2003, updated daily from The National Archives' Find Case Law service and filterable by practice area. Contentious practitioners can see relevant new authority as it is published, with no subscription.
- Private contract review
- Our free ContractScanner runs its model in your browser once you choose to load it, so the contract text is not sent to a server. It shows the privacy-first approach we use in client builds: AI assistance that keeps client material on your own device.

- ContractScanner: private AI contract reviewPaste a contract or NDA for a first-pass risk review. The model runs in your browser, so the text never leaves your device.
AI for Solicitors: common questions
Is it safe to put client information into AI tools?
Only if you know where the data goes. Some public chatbots can keep what you type and use it for training, so client material should not go into them. Tools that process data on your own device, or that come with contractual terms on data residency and training, are a different matter. Answering that design question is a core part of our work with firms.
Will AI replace solicitors?
No. AI can take on a first pass at some tasks, such as routine drafting, document triage and research summaries, which a solicitor then checks. Judgement, advocacy, negotiation and client relationships stay with the solicitor.
We're a small firm with no IT team. Can we still use AI?
Yes. Our free tools run in a browser with no signup, so they are a reasonable place to start. For custom work, an assessment identifies the one piece of work worth taking on first, and we handle the technical side of the build.
Do you build client-facing AI tools for solicitors?
Yes, alongside internal tools. We build enquiry intake and triage tools that collect the details of a new enquiry and route it to the right team for a solicitor to review. They do not give legal advice, and they sit alongside the information the SRA Transparency Rules require firms to publish.
